Sinead Overbye

Sinead Overbye (Rongowhakaata, Ngāti Porou, Te Aitanga-a-Māhaki) is a writer and research assistant. She completed her MA at the IIML in 2018, and was a recipient of a New Zealand Society of Authors mentorship in 2019. Sinead's fiction and poetry has been published in Turbine, RNZ, Starling, Oscen, Sport and other places. In 2019, she won the Wallace Foundation youth short story competition for best LGBT+ story by a writer under the age of 25. She is a member of the rōpū Rangatahi o te Pene who in September 2019 published the anthology Te Rito o te Harakeke - A Collection of Writing for Ihumātao. She lives in Whanganui-a-Tara.
