The Pantograph Punch Presents: Our First Fundraiser Season

Running The Pantograph Punch is hard work. Our editorial team spends hundreds of hours each month running the site and workshopping everything that comes through, and because we pay all our writers (because what they do is damn good) it costs us thousands of dollars to keep it going.

We're proud of having published pieces like this incredible documentary on the history of The Mint Chicks,  or this piece on hip-hop's sexual hang-ups, or this series with New Zealand's best young journalists on what they do (and why they do what they do). Our writing has been featured on Pitchfork, The Guardian and, more locally, The New Zealand Herald and Tell You What: Great New Zealand Non-Fiction. We could go on, but we won't (although we'd love to hear your favourites).

We've got big plans for the next year. We want to commission more regular features as well as a few special projects, and we're hoping to have two part-time staff working on the site.

It's with this in mind that we're excited to be launching our winter season of fundraiser events, in collaboration with Q Theatre. If you'd like to support what we do - and help keep it going - please consider coming along to one (or two, or all three) of our shows. If you can't make them (or even if you can), you can also make a donation (details below)

Our first event - Based on a True Story - invites you to put your lie-detecting skills to the test in an evening of half-truths, tall tales, and hand-to-heart facts.

Hosted by Thomas Sainsbury and featuring Antonia Prebble, Rochelle Bright, Jose Barbosa and Wallace Chapman, we'll be serving up stories that are true, some that are hard to believe, and some that will threaten to slip under your radar.

Tickets are $15 (or more, if you're feeling generous!) and are available here.

If you can't make the event, please consider making a monthly donation to help us do what we do!

Or make a one-off donation

Or by direct debit to our New Zealand bank account:
