Te Aniwaniwa (Ngati Porou, Ngāti Rangitihi, Te Ati Haunui-a-Pāpārangi, Ngāti Tuwharetoa, and Ngāti Kahungunu ki Heretaunga) is a poet, writer, and media operator based in Tāmaki Makaurau. She has worked in collective art exhibitions and has used her poetry for activism to support non-profit BBIPOC causes. Currently she works full-time at Whakaata Maori and is contracting as a writer for TOAH-NNEST -a treaty-based NGO that aims to end sexual violence in Aotearoa. Photo by Jessica Thompson-Carr.
Te Aniwaniwa Paterson unpacks what it means to decolonise her emotions and love deeply - just like Ranginui and Papatūānuku.
