Aroha Novak (Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Kahungunu, Tūhoe) is a multidisciplinary artist, with a practice that encompasses sculpture, installation, painting, photography, sound, video, curation and writing. She completed her undergraduate and Master of Fine Arts at Dunedin School of Art, majoring in Sculpture and Installation art. Her work is often research and project based, drawing out Indigenous and local histories that have been forgotten or suppressed, frequently working outside of traditional gallery spaces and collaborating with other artists.
